Why you'd want to live in Gilbert
Downtown Gilbert, otherwise known as the Heritage District, has been around for 30 years with must-see stops such as Joe's Real BBQ, Hale Centre Theatre and Agritopia. It has been built up over the years to include many different restaurants, theaters and places to see. Here are our favorite spots: Joe’s Real BBQ, 301 N. Gilbert Road This restaurant in downtown Gilbert is housed in a building that's more than 70 years old. Its homespun feeling is only enhanced by the menu, which is dominated by delicious meats cooked in a barbecue pit fired with pecan wood. The Gilbert Days Parade is one of the town's premiere events and part of its Gilbert Days. The parade celebrates Gilbert's heritage and involves local schools, businesses, non-profits and special organization. Gilbert Farmers Market, 222 N. Ash St. Shop for locally-grown produce from close to 100 vendors, try an array of food trucks and local eats, and enjoy games and entertainment for the whole family at the popular Gilbert Farmers Market. It is open year-round from 7 to 11 a.m. every Saturday, and is located in the park and ride just west of the iconic water tower. 45 W. Page Ave. A stage, amphitheater and a spinning granite orb water feature are what mark this historical Gilbert spot. A splash pad is available with seating for parents to watch as kids play. Cafe tables, bike racks and parking surround the area and restaurants and shopping are nearby. Gilbert Historical Museum, 10 S. Gilbert Road Gilbert Historical Museum holds an annual quilt show March through May every year, where more than 100 quilts are displayed. The Gilbert Historical Society, which was organized in the 1960s, is in charge of the museum. Liberty Market, 230 N. Gilbert Road Downtown Gilbert’s popular Liberty Market restaurant, which got its start as a grocery store in 1935, finished an extensive makeover in 2013 that included a new menu and redesigned interior.
